Didn't have to mod WD2, only problem I had with it was it was a bit laggy for seconds when the game first loaded, but then it ran fine. I don't recall you mentioning your sys spec, are you sure you meet the hardware requirements? In some games you also need to make sure you install the Visual Studio and Dx updates in the redist, folder, but in checking my WD2 game directory, there appear to be no such files.

It is normal because Ubisoft is the designer and we are used to the fact they every of their new game crashes af during the first month. Hope they are going to patch it and give early players some coins for the wait…. First few days it was absolutely fine, not a single crash.
