Shade becomes plentiful! A log bridge is the next major landmark. Beyond the bridge, several steep rocky sections occur, with quite a few braided side trails. Travel on HWY 89 north to Layton. Turn right on East North, then immediately turn right on Eastside Road. Near the end of Eastside Road you will see a dirt parking area. This is the trail head parking area. They don't last too long but on a hot day it can seem like forever. After that, the trail will continue to be steep but won't switchback nearly as often.
Follow the trail through the forest and eventually it will start to get a little rocky. There is a bridge to cross the stream at one point. Near the waterfall, there is no bridge to cross the stream but plenty of rocks to hop across.
There will be a lot of dogs on this trail as well as people. Sometimes it can get slick and muddy especially in the Spring when the snow melt is high. Total elevation gain on this hike is 1, feet. There are also a ton of camping spots near the trail if you would like to spend the night, one time I saw a father and a son panning for gold in the river.

Great challenging family hike. One of my favorite hikes especially during the winter because the waterfall freezes and it's absolutely gorgeous.
This hike has a gorgeous beginning with an excellent overlook, then diving into the forest with a nice stream next to the trail the whole way, with a beautiful waterfall at the end. Definitely worth your time! This hike is a popular choice, so there were plenty of other people on the trail. The trail is very pretty, well marked and ends with a gorgeous waterfall.
Gorgeous hike! The waterfall midway through April was freezing but well worth the cold feet. Wear Sunscreen. If you are taking your 4 legged friend on this hike during the summer, make sure that they have booties or you go early morning. We got about 60 yards and had to turn around.
