Disadvantages: Cost: the price will usually be slightly above to extravagantly above the cost of the volume detailers. Time: Time is held to more importance by some than others. The good thing is you can schedule yourself to be doing something else anything from working, to watching movies, to housework, to spending time with your family while your detail is being done. Either make arrangements to drop your vehicle off at the shop, have it picked up or possibly even have it done at your home or office.
Obviously time is a factor. Details from a quality centered detailer can average anywhere from 5 to 10 hours , so make sure you either have alternate transportation or have something else to do. If you are looking to do your own paint touch up, the first thing to do is to get your expectations straight. I have a friend who was fond of saying paint touch up i….

Adventures in Detailing has been asked to cover an often overlooked area The general public typically has a gross misunderstanding of how long it takes to detail a car.
It is either underestimated or completely overestimated. In my own experience the time it takes to detail a car can vary wildly and can be influenced by several different things. These include. So what does detailing mean in ? In my opinion, this term is now used to cover all aspects of car cleaning and paint protection, no matter how small a job at hand.
For me, to truly answer the question of how long it takes to detail a car to someone, I usually end up breaking it down into various categories. There are other scenarios, but I have tried to group them as best I can to answer the question at hand. Quick Detailing is a process that I would consider taking less than 30 minutes.
A car duster also works well at removing the top layer of dust before quick detailing but is not necessary. During a quick detail, I also like to give the exterior glass a clean using a good quality dedicated glass cleaner.
Quick Detailing is not just for the exterior of your car. A personal favourite of mine is AutoFinesse Interior cleaner , used with some microfiber clothes to keep on top of interior dust and dirt. Obviously, there are different types of maintenance wash, for example, are you using just buckets and water? Or Are you using a pressure washer with a pre-wash snow foam step before any contact washing is done?
For simplicity, I am going to base this on my Maintenance wash routine, which I carry out weekly. This is all the steps I have outlined above, but including a full clean of the interior of the car.
The time it takes to do this will depend on the condition of the interior, but if you are like me and tend to keep on top of the dirt in the interior, it should not add too much time to your maintenance wash. However, one important factor that is often overlooked is the scent. I usually change my air freshener about once a month. Now we are getting into the serious steps of detailing, whereby a large amount of time will need to be put in, which will lead to exceptional results.
I would advise that a good decontamination wash be performed on a car at least once a quarter, or about 4 times a year. This is also necessary before undertaking a machine polish of a car, or the application of a ceramic coating.
This is usually something you can build into a maintenance wash, but as I said it is only necessary a few times a year if you are keeping on top of your vehicle. This is usually measured in Days Rather than Hours. The time to complete can vary depending on several factors such as. I would estimate that the average paint correction and protection can take from Days On average. This can take longer if heavy paint correction is required. Forgot your password? Asked by BrandonB56 , January 16, Got to agree with Wolfy on the Detail Spray; I have gotten to the point that I only buy by the gallon.
And it smells sooooooo good. If you went through an entire bottle already you will need more when you you polish and wax. But not much more. I suppose you could just spray your pads with waterless wash or just water to reactivate the polishes and wax. Can I get a ruling on this? If this is your first run, then a full weekend is a good time frame. As you get more experience you can get most of that done in a day.
Before a show I get the exterior done first and vacuum the interior. The polishing of the trim and interior cleaning that can be handled on site is doen when I get to the show. Any over spray, you guessed it, detail spray. It is your best friend. Did I mention the smell? I like to start in the late afternoon. Do the wheels, then wash the car. After drying it, I will pull it into the garage for claying.
Let it sit overnight, then begin the polishing in the AM. My Ram takes about 6 hours! Mind you 6 hours is outside only. I wipe the truck down completely after each application of product as well.
Brandon, this is a question that will get you many different anwsers. The length of time of a detail will depend on how picky you are and what equipment you have.
Since your car is 2 months old, it shouldn't be too swirled up. My first question is, do you have FMP? A 2 month old car probably doesn't need SHR. The FMP should be all you need. Also do you have a PC or are you doing this by hand? I see that you're planning on using Revive, so I'm guessing that you don't have a PC.
Doing it by hand will make your arm hang, but it can be done. If the area looks like what you are looking for then continue on with the rest of the car. As for a time frame, it's hard to say. A typical detail for me takes about 14 hours.
